However for my 50th birthday I decided that I wanted to enjoy being birthday girl rather than cooking so I engaged the services of Sam to prepare a buffet for 18. Whilst I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted I was keen for Sam to make suggestions and her menu more than hit the spot. The flavour combinations were divine and every guest commented on how fantastic the food was! We have been to three Repast events and have enjoyed them immensely. They have each been a fascinating voyage into culinary history – taking us from the tutor period; through the era of the British Raj, to the 1970s. We love the mix of authentic historic recipes and modern twists. Sam and Neil are also superb hosts – imparting enthusiasm, culinary knowledge and bonhomie in equal portions. Sam will wow you with her historic themed diners and tempt your tastebuds with some delicious and exciting dishes. All ingredients will be locally sourced and of premium quality. Book in advance though, Sam will only host a maximum of 12 people and places go fast! I have been to numerous Supper Clubs at Sam's lovely home. Sam gives you a very warm welcome. The food is always amazing. I have never tasted a rhubarb crumble with gingerbread topping like it! As well as the food being rather good, you can tell Sam has spent an awful lot of time researching each dish and then taking her time to explain to us the history behind them. I would thoroughly recommend her Supper Club to all. Whether into food, history or just looking for a great night out, there is something for everyone at Repast. Sam’s knowledge and passion for food and history is highly infectious and you come away from one of her supper nights full of insight and delicious food. Jersey Heritage asked Sam to host a Victorian tea for a selection of our supporters in the traditional gas-lit surroundings of our Victorian Merchant’s House at Jersey Museum. Sam helped us design a traditional menu and while the seed cake was eaten and the tea served, Sam gave a fascinating talk about the social history of tea and the rules of Victorian tea time etiquette.
